What is a business debit card?

A business debit card enables you to make purchases (both in-person and online) and manage your expenses, straight from your business account. Similar to a personal debit card you can pay for goods and services, as well as withdraw cash.

With a Zeller Debit Card, you can make international purchases, as well as add your card digitally to your Google Wallet or Apple Pay Wallet.

There are two types of Zeller Debit Cards:

  • Virtual debit card - You can create a virtual card on Zeller Dashboard and start spending instantly. Additionally, you can add your virtual card to Google Wallet or Apple Pay, and spend in store with your mobile device.
  • Physical debit card - With a physical card, you can spend in store by tapping or swiping your plastic Zeller Debit Card, and withdraw cash at ATMs.

What are the benefits of a business debit card?

  • Easily access your business transaction account funds - Spend money instantly from your Zeller Transaction Account.

  • Real-time transaction management - Transactions made on Zeller Debit Cards are recorded straight into your Zeller Account in real-time, meaning you can track your business expenses and manage your cash flow, straight from your Zeller Dashboard.

  • Increased security - Having a business debit card gives you full control over your business’ spending, and provides you with fraud protection and spending controls to prevent unauthorised transactions.

  • Minimise accounting paperwork - With a Zeller Debit Card, you can connect your transactions straight into Xero with our Bank Feeds connection, meaning less paperwork and fewer headaches when it comes to reimbursements and bookkeeping.

  • Monitor and control your team spending - Issue your managers with their own debit cards and get full oversight on their business spending behaviour. As an admin, you also have the ability to lock, cancel, or close their cards.

Is it OK to use a business debit card for personal use?

Whilst you could use your business debit card for personal use, it is not recommended, even if you are the business owner. Making personal purchases on a business transaction account and card could create tax and accounting issues, and make it more difficult for your accountant to assist you with recording your business finances.

If you wish to make personal purchases with Zeller, we would recommend you create a second Zeller Transaction Account and Debit Card, and make those purchases separate from your business transactions.

How do I get a Zeller Debit Card?

To get a Zeller Debit Card, you first need to sign up for your free Zeller Account. You can then issue a free Zeller Debit Card from the Zeller Dashboard. You can choose to create a physical Zeller Debit Card (which will be shipped to you in 3-5 business days), or issue a virtual Zeller Debit Card which you can add to your Google or Apple wallet instantly.

Can I create a Zeller Debit Card for my employees?

You can issue your employees with a Zeller Debit Card instantly from Zeller Dashboard. They will need to ensure they have completed their ID verification (which is accessible under Profile Settings → Security).

How do I change my card PIN?

To change your Zeller Debit Card PIN, log into your Zeller Account and look for your card under Cards. In the “Manage” dropdown, you can ‘Reset PIN’. Please note that you have to be the verified cardholder in order to change your card PIN.

What should I do if I lose my Zeller Debit Card, or if I think it has been compromised?

If you’ve misplaced your Zeller Debit Card or suspect it has been stolen, log into your Zeller Account and mark your card as “Lost or Stolen” under ‘Manage’ in your Zeller Card Dashboard. We’ll immediately issue you a replacement card to your registered address, free of charge.

Can I link my existing Zeller Debit Card to another transaction account?

Every Zeller Debit Card can only be linked to one Zeller Transaction Account, which was assigned upon activation. If you wish to spend funds on another Transaction Account with a card, simply create a new Zeller Debit Card under “Cards” in the Zeller Dashboard. It’s fast and free.
