Zeller and Impos partner to deploy new solution enabling restaurateurs to turn tables 73% faster

3 March 2025

  • Zeller Bill at Table enables waiters to present diners with a digital, itemised bill for review directly on the Zeller EFTPOS Terminal screen, before accepting payment instantly.
  • Launched in partnership with leading Australian hospitality point-of-sale Impos, Zeller Bill at Table is available today to all mutual and new customers of Zeller and Impos.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – In most restaurants, a busy Friday night with a queue of diners out the door is an ideal start to the weekend. Unfortunately it also represents lost revenue in diners who cannot be seated fast enough. In a challenging trading environment for restauranteurs where every diner counts, technology designed to enable venues to turn tables faster is essential.

Today, Zeller, the Australian fintech redefining business banking, has announced a new solution designed for Australian restaurateurs. Bill at Table utilises the Zeller EFTPOS Terminal’s large-format digital display, enabling waiters to present customers an itemised bill on the terminal screen, and then instantly accept payment tableside — helping to deliver a streamlined diner experience, serve more tables, and ultimately boost revenue. No longer will diners have to wait for a leather-bound bill to be collected from the POS with a printed paper receipt, brought to the table, and then have to wait while a waiter collects the payment terminal to process payment — Zeller Terminal handles this entire experience digitally in a single step, right at the table.

A time study demonstrated that an average sit-down restaurant is able to turn tables 73% faster with Zeller Bill at Table in comparison to the manual billing process, from the point the bill is requested to when the diner pays and departs.

“In 2025, Australia’s most popular hospitality institutions are embracing technology to drive automation and improve service,” said James Vatiliotis, Zeller Product Lead. “As these restaurants continue to face cost-of-living pressures, we’re deploying new solutions to help them serve more diners and increase revenue in every sitting — particularly through using time-saving and experience-enhancing payments technology like Zeller Bill at Table.”

Zeller developed this new, industry-first technology in partnership with leading Australia hospitality point-of-sale platform Impos, in recognition that restaurateurs need smarter technology to improve operational efficiency and deliver a streamlined diner experience. “We are excited to partner with Zeller, allowing venues a seamless, secure, and innovative payment experience. Together, we can provide hospitality businesses with the tools they need to enhance efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and drive growth.” said Matt Griffiths, Impos General Manager.

Ben Hickey, Director at The Roosevelt, a cocktail bar in inner-Sydney’s Potts Point, has been trialling Zeller Bill at Table since late last year. “Bill at Table is particularly great. It’s much smoother – the bill is settled then and there and they’re off into the night – and we’re onto the next table.”  The team at The Roosevelt has also benefitted from a boost in tips and the convenience of streamlined split payments, both features included with Zeller’s Bill at Table functionality. “On a busy night, when we’re doing 160 covers.Obviously we’re not processing that many transactions, but since people pay in groups of four or six, having the bill-splitting feature is great!”

Zeller Bill at Table unlocks a range of valuable operational benefits for restaurateurs:

  • See itemised bills in detail: Present an itemised digital bill to customers tableside from Zeller Terminal’s large display, for them to review and approve before making payment.
  • Enhanced payment acceptance: Diners are prompted to add tips, split the bill between a group, and process payments instantly.
  • Faster table turn: Serve more tables in every sitting by reducing the number of steps required to turn a table.
  • No more paper receipts: A reduced restaurant’s environmental impact by removing the need for paper receipts at checkout.
Zeller Bill at Table is available to all customers of Zeller and Impos, with additional POS systems to launch this industry-leading feature in the coming months. For more information, please click here.
